What is normal time to be in the OR?

I go tomorrow morning, pre op just called. I am having TVH anterior and posterior repair and something to tightenup my bladder. Nurse say according to last 10 cases with same thing was about 3 hours. Is that too long? She said no laproscope so no gas all vaginal. Is this good? I am thinking it wont be so painful because I am not getting cut or getting the laprascope??????

Re: What is normal time to be in the OR?

Debbie, my doctor said she expected 2 1/2 to 3 hours for exactly the surgery you are going to have. She said it went really well and I think she was done in about 2. I, of course, have no concept of how much time it took. I don't even remember what time it was when I got up to my room but I think it was around noon (surgery was at 8:30.)

You actually will probably have interior incisions to take the uterus out and to make the repairs but I've had practically no pain, just a sore bum.

Re: What is normal time to be in the OR?

I had just a TVH, no repairs, was told it would take 1-2 hrs but it was less. So TVH plus repairs in 3 hrs sounds reasonable. They still cut internally, and repairs do seem to add to soreness, from what I read from laies here. But my TVH was not very painful after day one, I do think not having external cuts did help. And not having the gas pumped like in a laparoscopic might have helped, too. Best wishes for an easy surgery.

Re: What is normal time to be in the OR?

I think with the laproscopic procedure I had done, it was 90 mins. Had it done on 12/14 and am in recovery Day 3. I don't feel any muscular pain but do feel where the removal happened. Depending on your pain tolerance, you will adapt to the feeling and each day it's more tolerable. I do think you'll have the least invasive surgery vaginally. You'll do great!
