Back to work in week after hysterectomy
Just venting.
A family meber called to tell me something and I said well not feeling great today, ready to gain my strength back. Then she proceeded to tell me I need iron pills. I'm not anemic.
Then she went onto to invite me to a baseball game. Ok, but I don't think that'd be wise at this point. Climbing bleachers and sitting in hard seats. Then went onto say after her hyst , she was back at work in a week. Cause school was starting and she told her Dr. Im going back to work. Yeah, whatever !
Anyhow, Im sure she didn't mean to make me feel badly, but did. ;( Im 3 wks post op.
That's ok, I'd rather rest up and get a good report from Dr.
What are people thinking, then another family member starts comparing her tubal to my hyst. I've had lap assist. surgeries before and they are nothing like recovering from this. Much harder longer recovery.
I wouldn't have been able to do anything at one week post op. Though I have done a bit of work from home and computer.
People...........ok done............

Re: Mom-Back to work in week after hyst
Pardon my bluntness but depending on what kind of surgery she had she may be full of it. The rest of them, too.
Your recovery and your body are unique to you. Period.

Re: Mom-Back to work in week after hyst
She had a vaginal hysterectomy ......and went back to work in 1 week! She's lucky she didn't pop a stitch! I had a laparoscopic hysterectomy (2/14) and kept my cervix but still having cramps that can double me over. I think my doctor would have a litter of kittens if I told him " I'm going back to work, too bad" no way he would give me medical clearance.
I know it is difficult not to take personally what family and close friends say when it seem insensitive, but remember you've got sisters. Hang in there.

Re: Mom-Back to work in week after hyst
Thanks for comments, yes thx heavens for sisters, who understand. no, she had bladder work and abd hyst. im thinkin shed understand. ugh.....
Thx for letting me vent.
Going to church sunday, im dreading it because of others and comments like this?
When went to town, someone just outright asked me because of moving slow if i had a hyst, i said yes. then they proceeded to start asking how it was done, in a public place, think my next response will be, i dont feel like talking about it.
Hello, dont ask me questions about 'my flower' in public, i only want to now visit w gyno, dh and hyster sisters thx you are dears.
Yeah , dont think she remembers right, a week, fulltime work ? Thx again

So, wait, let's put this in perspective - she's proud that she ignored doctor's orders and since it worked out she thinks you should too.
Hmm, I'm going to gently suggest that you file her "helpful advice" in the trash.
Pamper the princess. It works out better in the long run and you are worth pampering.
