Numbness in left thigh

Released from hospital this morning around 10:30 am. As I was moving from the wheelchair to the car, I realized that my left thigh was numb.

I immediately wondered about a blood clot but the nurse said a blood clot would be very painful.

Anyone else experience this? Should I call the doctor? I'm really thinking I should!

I have seen posts from a few sisters who experienced numbness right after surgery, possibly caused by swollen tissues pushing on a nerve. But I think you answered you own question. Give your doc a call. It can't hurt, and it will likely give you some peace of mind.

Yeah - doc said it is from the position the body was in during the surgery. Should expect it to go from numbness to tingling to pins and needles and finally to pain before clearing. Typically takes 2 to 4 weeks to clear.

I did find some old forum post stating it never cleared or last for months, so I am hoping it'll be "typical" for me instead!
