Polyps on vaginal cuff line 20 weeks post hysterectomy

I'm 20 weeks post op and recently had some spotting. I saw my doctor today and she said I have polyps on my vaginal cuff line. She gave me some silver nitrate to cauterize it and a referral for a pelvic/transvaginal ultrasound.

Does anyone else have experience with this issue?

Re: Polyps on vaginal cuff line 20 weeks post op

I don't have any personal experience, and the few threads I've found here on vaginal polyps are from a number of years ago - one reads almost exactly like yours (from 2003, for reading only).

In doing some outside reading I found a pretty good article on vaginal polyps: What Are Vaginal Polyps? from ConsumerHealthDigest. They are growths of skin - skin tags - which are generally harmless and usually go unnoticed unless, as in your case, they bleed. It's not known what causes them, so there aren't any recommendations to prevent them. The best bet for vaginal health is our annual exam.

Hopefully your scan will show the "all clear" and that this is routine for your doctor.

Re: Polyps on vaginal cuff line 20 weeks post hysterectomy

Wow!! I've not had any spotting but I do have pain from time to time where I imagine my cuff is. I don't see my Dr again until June but I'm anxious to see her as I have lots of questions. Mainly about sex as its not comfortable and my husband says it feels quite different as well.😕
Hope you get everything taken care of. Is it painful?
