LSH recovery!!!
To all of you experienced LSH gals.Is it foolish for me to assume Ill be able to run a few light errands about 7 days after procedure? You know like picking up dry cleaning, visiting my horse and watching a few lessons sitting down, taking a nice fall foilage drive with my hubby? Is it still uncomfortable or is it the post op pain meds that wear ya down? I get SO bored! I recovered quickly from Liposuction on my belly and butt last year.I was sitting on my horse on day 10. 2. Do I need to get BIG clothes for the Swelly belly? 3. Do you gals still get bloating in the belly area during PMS? Keeping ovaries. Thanks for your stories! Colleen Faith.. LSH oct 1st

LSH recovery!!!
Hi Colleen,
I am 4 weeks post-op LSH BSO. I think you will find that everyone's recovery time will be different, as with any surgery. Some people have posted that they were driving and doing errands within a week. I was too uncomfortable the first week to even consider driving (gas pains, twinges). I started driving towards the end of the second week and doing light errands. I'm doing pretty well now. I just tire out quickly and only occasional healing twinges felt.
My swelly belly really only lasted for two weeks. I am in my normal clothes now.
Good luck with your surgery. Listen to your body and it will tell you when you are ready to do certain things. Don't push yourself. Now is the time to be pampered.

horses!
Ahhhhh, one of God's finest creatures!I don't know about the riding bit, but I sure do know those horse smells and sounds will sure make you feel better. I have 2 at home(mini and a pony). Needless to say I can't ride them, but I do know they will give me a good reason to get up and about. I have surgery coming up on the 27th of this month to remove a huge ovarian cyst and my overies. Had a partial Hyst 20 years ago. My kids were 2 and 4 at the time so sitting around wasn't that much of an option. I think I was driving after 2 weeks. I know your body will let you know when it's ready to get back in the saddle. Until then, enjoy the fuzzy warm nose and all the great smells and sounds that go along with those wonderful creatures. Just don't be in a hurry to fling the hay bales or shovel the ****!! Good luck!

LSH recovery!!!
I had a quick recovery from LSH 6/22/2004, as for errands I wasn't taking any pain meds on the second day so I ran a few short errands. I am like you get bored easily, and am very active. I was back to my regular gym activities at 14 days. This surgery was very easy for me to recover from, I am sure you will do fine, just listen to your body and rest when you need to.

LSH recovery!!!
Hi Colleen,
I had a LSH and kept my ovaries.
I did some errands the first week. I just paced myself and if I felt up to it. My mom stayed with my DH and I in post-op so she drove me the first 2 weeks. My Dr. did not want me driving the first 2 weeks due to prescription meds. Made me foggy!!
I did the video store one day, the market another day and my 7-day post op at my Dr's.
I just did R & R the first two weeks as much as possible!!
I started back at work - slowly - at 2 weeks. I had my Dr's okay. I delegated at work and I did not lift anything. I know going back at 2 weeks can be more an exception than a rule.
I did walking the first 6 weeks and then I started back to the gym after that. I normally work out 3 days a week.
This was my first surgery (unless you count lasik eye surgery) so my LSH was a BIG deal for me!!
I had swelly belly for about 7-10 days. Just get some really XXlarge shorts and pj/sweats. Sometimes, I even placed a small pillow between my sweats and my skin for extra comfort.
In post-op, I do not get PMS bloating. I do get tender breasts and a little irritability. It just tells me my ovaries are working!! For me, PMS now is a lot less than it was in pre-op.
Good Luck, Colleen. We LSH Sisters are with you!!
Best wishes,
Mary
