5 day post-op LASH procedure

Hi...I had LASH done on 8/27 and it's now 9/1. My doctor is of course out of town and his sub nurse doesn't seem to know much.

I am just trying to find out if it's normal to still be bleeding? I'd say it's medium flow and there's some clotting, I'm assuming from parts of the uterus having been removed. The bleeding has slowly, gradually picked up since Thursday. Where is the bleeding coming from too, if I no longer have a uterus? any help? I'm fine and can accept the bleeding for now as long as I know it's fairly normal and will diminish soon.

Re: 5 day post-op LASH procedure

Bleeding can be normal following a hysterectomy for a variety of reasons and often lasts anywhere from 4-6 weeks. If you have bright red bleeding that fills a pad an hour, you need to seek medical attention immediately.

We do have a couple Post Op Articles about bleeding that might help you:

Bleeding Post Op Hysterectomy
Blood Clots After Hysterectomy

You are only a few days post op so bleeding could very much be normal. Are you doing a lot of activities right now or pretty much resting? If you are overdoing it, you could cause additional bleeding and should decrease your activities and take it easy. You might want to put your feet up for awhile and see if the bleeding slows.

If I understand correctly, you had the LSH meaning you still have your cervix. Since the cervix is the bottom portion of the uterus, it can have endometrial lining which can cause bleeding issues as well.

If you are not receiving the answers you need from your GYN's office, call your GP and explain the situation and see if they can help you! Don't hesitate to seek medical care if you feel something is not right!
