TAH and home in 36 hours
Oh, you ladies in waiting, what you have ahead of you is a grand thing! Last thing I remember was asking the nurse if she was the Margarita Lady (the anesthesia guy told me she was on her way in with my Margarita) and the next was the recovery nurse gently telling me I was in recovery and all was well, then overhearing him calling my DH to tell him I was doing great and they were just waiting for a room for me. Somewhere in there my surgeon said my name and "I saved both ovaries, you did great."
I just had a little time of it with nausea a couple hours after, another hit to the IV by a nurse, and all was well. My only wish is all Princesses could have it this good, and hope that the majority of you will. My first surgery of any sort, and for my former problem, I would do it again in a heartbeat. Laying there as the rest of the anesthesia wore off, I just had this feeling of euphoria. The thing that was causing me so much grief was GONE! I'm sure some if that was good drugs, but it still felt so good!
The surgeon told DH that she was glad we had decided on abdominal vs. LAVH at the pre-op (the choice was made based on my funny hip) because there was no way she could have gotten my huge evil uterus out the other way, and would have been her first failure to do so. She left to go on vacation today, the day after surgery and I was discharged by her partner, but I will get the details next week.
A bit of soreness around the incision, and I'm learning to move around it, amazingly little soreness at the site of the perineoplasty, went off IV's at 10 this morning (surgery was started 7:45 am yesterday), just on percocet now.
I would never have been able to go into this as calm as I did without the help of the greatest sisters there are! (And I'm an only child!) Whatever it takes, go in calm and confident and you will prevail. I was skeptical of the ladies who said you won't remember a thing, and you'll feel better immediately. You'll be skeptical too, but not for long. Once you've been there, you will be a believer.
Be not afraid, this is a GOOD thing Ladies!
Z.

TAH and home in 36 hours
Awsome post! I just want to add that some sisters are afraid of post op pain. I never used the morphine pump. When they asked me why, I said "this isn't pain....I've gone to work feeling worse than this!" We ALL have. So be positive.

Welcome home Z!
I was encouraged to use my morphine pump but I limited it to one push every 3 hours because I simply didn't have pain and I loved being so alert! If you need it, use it! The woman in the room with me had rhinoplasty (to fix sinuses) and she hit her morphine pump every 8 minutes until they took it out the next day. She was in a lot of pain. So I guess we all have our own level of pain tolerance.
I'm so glad you feel better!!! Get lots of rest!
