Re: Leg numbness following spinal anaesthesia
I had an issue with my left leg, but did NOT have spinal anesthesia. It wasn't so much numb on the surface, but more numb underneath, if that makes any sense. It was also very weak and I lost my knee reflex. I was VERY worried, because I was afraid I would fall and that it would not get better. My doctor wasn't sure why this would have happened. Thought maybe it could have been related to the retractors, though they do pad them to try to avoid injury. Went to neuro and he wasn't sure either why? Said he thought is was not femoral nerve, but sacro something or other. Did nerve testing, which came out normal. Was going to send me for MRI.
Good thing is that it got better. Probably took about a month. I kept sort of stretching it, because it felt better. And I'd do modified squats, holding on to something. Knee reflex came back and never went for MRI.
Sometimes, I've read, people have issues because of leg positioning in stirrups for vaginal hysters? I had TAH, so not sure how my legs were, though I am sure not in stirrups.
Take a good vitamin B complex. Supposed to help with nerve repair!
