lsh and chaged once in surgery

I was just wondering if anyone was scheduled to have a laprascopic subcervical hyst and had to switch to a more invasive hyst due to surprises once the Dr started? For some reason Im afraid this will happen to me!
Thanks

Hi PamelaDee,

I was in the same boat as you. The doctor wanted to do the LSH, but warned me he might have to do the abdominal cut if there was any problems. He was concerned about my bladder due to my previous c-sections. Luckily, he just did the LSH. It was the first question that I asked when I woke up in recovery. I asked the nurse if I had a big cut or little ones.

I think with any procedure there is chance that due to problems the doctors will have to switch routes. Just think many positive thoughts...it will help.

I was due to have a LAVH, which they did start, then had to have the TAH/BSO because the Dr. couldn't get to everything without the large incision. I HAD been warned and was not surprised. Being about 60 lbs. overweight and with stretch marks up to my breasts, I assured him that another scar wouldn't bug me. I won't be wearing a bikini anytime soon, if you know what I mean!

Pamela,

I think so much depends on the skill and experience of your surgeon(s). My bladder and uterus were attached; my great surgeon was able to dissect them from each other. She said "it was close" yet ended up with the LSH.

Good luck to you!!!

Hugs,

My Dr. said he would set-up for LSH, but there would be a good chance it would convert to SAH because I had a 14 week sized uterus. His concern was being able to see and get to the blood supply. I really thought I'd wake up with an abdominal incision, but was delighted to find the LSH worked. Hope everything goes well for you. Either way I'm sure you'll be happy your uterus was gone!
