Bladder Question
I had my Hysterectomy on Dec 18th. I kept both ovaries. I have been feeling great except for some minor pelvic cramping. For the past 2 days I have noticed some bladder pain. I have no uti I was tested for. My urine is clean, no smell and no burning. I am able to empty all out. When I first start to go it doesn't hurt. Towards the end I start to get a sensation as if I just sat down and started going. It bugs me for a min or two then it fades. What is this from? Is this what a bladder spasm feels like?

Re: Bladder Question
It sounds like you are having bladder spasms which are pretty common early post op. Here is an article you can read Bladder Spasms After Hysterectomy

Re: Bladder Question
I had my (da vinci robotic) total hysterectomy on the 18th as well. One week post op I woke up from 2-6am having to pee every 2 minutes. I called the dr, they said come in for UTI test. Test was negative. Told them that I felt like I had small bowling balls in the bottom of my pelvic area and I had to hold the bottom of my stomach to keep everything from falling out. I've also noticed "kegel" type spasms & labia and lower (left) of pelvis somewhat swollen. They started me on Macrobid 100mg twice a day. That was Wednesday, today (Friday), they called me, said def no UTI after they sent it off & to come in to see doc. Belly still slightly swollen, frequent urination not near like it was, still kegel spasms. Dr wanted to do a sonogram (thank goodness because I really wanted to make sure everything was in the right place anyway sonogram showed bladder not emptying completely = bladder spasms. Doc said that's my problem and why I don't feel better than I do as far as pain-still have been cramping & felt as if my junk was being shoved up in my crotch every time I sit down & still pretty much rolling out of the bed! Ugh! Anyway, dr put me on 0.125mg of Anaspaz 3 times/day for spasms & Lortab 5-500 one tab every 4-6 hrs as needed for the pain. Hoping for quick results over the weekend! 👍

Re: Bladder Question
Well I just got back from the doctor. No uti once again. I am guessing bladder spasms. I see my surgeon Jan 7th. Sigh.

Re: Bladder Question
I feel your pain sister. I had a sling with my hyster and my bladder has been my worst enemyever since. I don't see my urologist again until the Jan 17th. Hoping that this magical little balloon remembers how it is supposed to act.. Spasms are no fun, but not near as bad as menstrual cramps were, just very irritating and uncomfortable.
HUGS SISTER, please let me know what your Dr has to say.

Re: Bladder Question
I am so glad you don't have a UTI! It should bring comfort to know this. You can try some OTC Azo Standard for the bladder pain just to get you through this phase.
