pain

I went for my pre-op testing yesterday which happened to be my 50th birthday....wore my tiara inthe car but not to the hospital, it helped with the parking attendant though!! Anyway, I am more scared now, even after talking with the anesthesiologist....she and another nurse were both telling me to use the drip and not worry about my "packing" and catherter. I hadn't give that much thought, or if I had it was along the lines of....nice...I don't have to get up to pee!! but now I have another thing to worrya bout....packing!! what?? My sister had bladder surgery a month ago and they left packing in her, 3 days home, in the shower alone, she starts pulling "strings" out!! WHAT??
Should I tell my doctor to count the "packing" stuff? Another worry.....

Question about vaginal packing

The packing must be with a vaginal hyst. I didn't have any packing, but I would want to know.

Question about vaginal packing

I had a LAVH/BSO on Oct 22, and didn't have any packing. I stayed overnight in the hospital, and just had a little bleeding - the nurse put some strange "net" panties on me and an old-style pad, but without the old-style belt. By the next morning, the bleeding had stopped, and then I just had a light discharge that lasted for a few weeks until my stitches healed - just enough to need a mini-pad or panty liner.
Best of luck to both of you, Dreamdyl and Kellrotti - I wish you both a smooth surgery and a speedy recovery. The nervousness and anxiety of waiting was definitely the worst part for me!

Take care,
Linda

Question about vaginal packing

Hi - I had a TVH on Nov 6th. I did have packing in fact when the nurse removed it, she said I had alot! However it was completley painless when they removed it. The nurse just grabbed an end and slowly hand over hand pulled it out. I promise it didn't hurt at all. In fact it was kind of funny. I was a bit high on the morphine and I was watching her take it out and I wasn't trying to be funny but I said "wow that doesn't look like a fun job pulling packing out of girls crotches". The nurse started laughing so hard she had to stop for a while and get composed!!

Really dont' sweat it.

Cheers,

Question about vaginal packing

This sounds like a concern I had. I had LAVH/BSO and had packing its to collect the excess fluid from the surgery from what I was told. The nurse took it out the next morning with me feeling no pain from it what so ever.
