Re: Belly-band

Most people only use for a few days or maybe a couple of weeks after their surgery. Did you have your surgery yet?

Re: Belly-band

I actually got one from the hospital. I wore it the first full week and actually put it on yesterday because I felt I needed some extra support. The nurse at the hospital told me people either love them or hate them. I loved mine. No idea what it cost yet - haven't seen my bill - but it was worth it to me.

Re: Belly-band

Used mine all the time for the first week then off and on after that for about another week. Almost four weeks now and haven't touched it for almost 2 weeks.

Re: Belly-band

I bought one from this site and I received one from the hospital. The one from the hospital is much wider & made of different material (More restrictive) than the one I purchased here, which is narrower and much softer fabric (more giving).

I have found that they are both WONDERFUL BLESSINGS in my recovery, especially when dealing with 'swelly belly' & riding in the vehicle. Both give plenty of support in different ways and I use them according to how I am feeling in them & what I am doing. If I am resting or sleeping or sitting around watching TV or reading, then the softer version is just fine. If I am walking (in or outside) or shopping or doing things around the house (light things, of course!) the more stricter version seems to support me better & helps me to not move in manners that I should not be doing.

There are times when I do not wear one at all but this is not very often in my case as I feel so much better wearing one. I consider them both a huge help in my recovery going so very well at this point. My surgeon said to use them as I need them through out my whole recovery...just go by how I am feeling day by day & hour by hour as needed.

Hope this helps in your decision!

Re: Belly-band

I have had my surgery (3 weeks out)! Swelly and bruising on right side is why I'm considering it! Maybe I'll check with my surgeon in the morning. I don't have a follow up for another week, but unless I lay in (being grounded as my DH says), then my right side gets even sorer
Thanks for your input Ladies

Re: Belly-band

I'm about the same date as you. I still wear mine when needed, whenever I start getting sore. And I'm so, so glad I have it. Some days, by the end of the day I just want everything to stop jiggling around. It's like a nice hug.

I sometimes wear it in bed. I usually sleep on my side and it holds everything in place. I also wear it in the car. I love it.

Re: Belly-band

I wouldn't be able to wear pants without one. Though, I felt strange buying one at Target, as I hated walking in the maternity section.
I'm about 2 weeks and I still need it, but I'm really swollen.
It's a little strange at first, and I have to adjust it or take it of when I get really uncomfortable, but otherwise it is a blessing. I'll have to try it in bed like shortnsweet12 mentioned...never thought of that, but I've been too hot to really enjoy anything!

Re: Belly-band

My hospital gave me 2. ..one goes down hips and up to boobs...very much coverage. One is thinner. Started out loving it but makes me sore too. Definately provides support!

Re: Belly-band

I started to wear it after one week from the surgery, it's not so comfortable but it gives lot of support especially when you stand up after sitting for a while.
Some times I wear it from morning till noon then I take it off
I heard it's very important to wear it to avoid having hernia later on
I'm trying
