Africa Trip
Hey All that are interested!
I had my first post op yesterday (my MD is going on holidays for 2 weels) so I'm about 4 1/2 wks.
He said everything is repairing well and was very happy with me. Unless I had any concerns he wanted to see me again in 12mnths.
He could not forsee any problem with me doing the Africa trip (4wd and camping for 4 wks). Was excited for me and said his 90yr old uncle did it and survived so I should be able to do it no worries!! My MD is a bit of a character!! I've yet to make my final decision but I'm leaning toward the positive!! I have a couple of strapping young lads going that asure me they will be happy to carry my gear for me!!!
Will keep you in touch with my decisions..

trip
How cool, going to Africa...I went to my 2 week ck out yesterday and PA said everything was good. I am scheduled to go to Sturgis SD in 4 weeks for work. I didn't think they would release me to be on my feet 10 hrs/day for a week, but she did! I am excited, seeing that my summer has been put on hold so far. PA said I should be totally back to normal by then,,,,whatever "normal" is.

Africa Trip
hi poohbear2
I'm excited for you and for your trip. It sounds like you are healing well, but I'm so glad to hear you have some guys lined up to help you. Are you doing some walking and trying to build up your endurance some? I am a little concerned that you could over do things if you aren't careful. When you have been resting and not using muscles that you normally use you can hurt yourself if you exert yourself beyond what you are ready. I hope you will be cautious and enjoy yourself without risking hurting yourself.
(((Windfairy)))I'm a little concerned for you. Six weeks is very early to start being on our feet 10 hours a day. The same thing is true for you as for for poohbear. You need to be preparing your body for this or you will probably have a very hard time doing this. Some drs are very optimistic and I hope this will be the case for you that you won't have any problems. I just want to caution you to be aware that six weeks is very early for what you have planned. Please be careful and listen to your body. If it doesn't work out please put yourself first. I just haven't seen many women who have been back to 'normal' at six weeks. I wish you well, please take care of yourself.
's, Rita
