Anyone else experience this...

do u still have discharge. Do u go to the toilet and have to spray smelly stuff bcause of smell. I had discharge after hyst after week 1 but went on for 2 wks and was so smelly. No-one else commented on it tho but I wasn't around people much. I then had a heamorrage and another surgery which has since shown a bug in the vaginal cuff and so am now on flagyl for that. Smell is still there on occasions during day but not constant. Can even taste it in mouth when eating at times.
My doc did tell me discharge would b smelly so I never worried about it.
Not sure if this helps u but that is where my smell comes from. I also find my own body odour unpleasant now as well.

Hi,
I found my body odor different post surgery. I walked around one day thinking 'what's that smell?' and then realized it was me. I've had to shower more post op than before, and be extra vigilant. It's almost like all the meds/aneastetic etc is coming out my pores.

So no, - you're not alone in your aroma!!

Between the odor and the discharge, I wore the deodorant pads for quite a while after surgery, and had to change my panties a couple of times a day. I found that by using baby powder between my thighs, that helps absorb some of the odor. I also shower a lot more and use scented body spray on my skin to try to help mask it. I wince when I'm out and I can smell myself, and wonder what other people must think, but no one has said anything.

HI, I had to go to back to the surgeon on my 7th day because the staples were killing me and she told me when I called they should have been removed by the nurse before I left. I am glad I went to her though because I mentioned, you know past few days I smell like a hooker that has not washed in a month. (not sure what that smells like but I really had a bad order after surgery) She looked at me funny and said, you could have a vaginal infection, she didnt even look or want to sniff LOL but gave me a script for some meds, it cleared it up and I have not had it since.. So, that may be it? call the nurse and ask her what you need to look for. A smell you are not familiar with could be something for sure. I got a UTI from the catheter and I guess an infection from the surgery.. one never knows.. GOOD LUCK

It doesn't hurt to call and ask your DR if there could be a problem. Often times an unpleasant odor can me a sign of infection. Another thing it may be is that the stitches that are used are the kind that your body dissolves and there can be a sort of medical smell to that. Again, it doesn't hurt to call your DR. Then you have the "warm fuzzy" that everything is OK.

Cheers,

Hi Precious Sisters!

From my experience (being redamitted three times for post op complications ~ once for 9 days) I strongly suggest you call your doc if you have a vaginal odour. Better to be safe than sorry and get it checked sooner than later.

On the other hand, I also noticed I had underarm odour as did many of the sisters around my date even though we were showering daily etc. This apparently is hormonal related and very common. It did make me crazy though!

Be good to yourselves!

Hugs,
Tracy

Hi There

I think I read somewhere on this site that by weeks 3/4 your stitches in your vaginal cuff start to dissolve and that can cause a smell.

I had a really offensive discharge at the end of week 1 and the beginning of week 2. It was sooooo bad I sat on the toilet and cried!!! I was distraught...... I didn't know that was coming. I still have a slight discharge and had my op on 22 sept, but it is only slightly odourous.LOL!!!

I am hoping it resolves soon and wish you a good recovery. xx
