post opp 13 weeks

I'm new to the site but wondered if anyone had advice for me.

I had a total abdominal hystrectomy on the 10th October 2012 making me 13 weeks post opp today..

However, at the weekend I had a bleed and since then have had light discharge, this was following intercose. My husband and i have had from 6 weeks onwards maybe only 3 or 4 times but havent had a problem before.

My scar is still sore and hurts when you put the foot to the floor, sometimes its more sore than others.

Like i say any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Angela

Re: post opp 13 weeks

Are you having any pain? I had my hyst the day after you. I've been having a few more odd sensations in the past week, but no blood. (I haven't gotten out of the habit of checking the TP though. ) If you still have discharge through the weekend, I'd recommend calling your dr. on Monday.

Re: post opp 13 weeks

I had like a dull stomach ache whilst i had the bleeding, other than that my scar is quite sore, sore to touch aswell.. The discharge has seemed to tail off and is very light so I would assume it will stop soon.

Just seemed so odd to be bleeding so late on. At 13 weeks, i assumed i'd be well on my way to healing.

What odd sensations have you been having? is it normal to experience these things?

Odd sensations: a few twinges of pelvic fullness, a dull ache or two - these last 5 minutes or less. I don't think I had any post-op symptoms during weeks 9-11 (but I had a bad cold, so I was preoccupied with those symptoms). I've also had a couple of headaches, which is unusual for me.

Your odd symptoms are things i experience to, i thought these were normal..

the area around my scar swells and becomes hard and sore the more i do. Work is quiet at the moment but have noticed this more when its been busy or when doing housework.

Have you consulted you g.p about this or spoke to a gyne, im not due to go back to see anyone and have been signed off.

Re: post opp 13 weeks

I had my hysterectomy 10/11 and I'm having the same sans the bleeding (still too scared to have sex after all the problems I had), hardened abdomen, sore around my incision site, and feeling really tired. Glad to know it is perhaps normal? Hope you all take care and still get lots of rest!

Re: post opp 13 weeks

I've read many times on this site that we aren't fully healed for 6-12 months. I'm just chalking the odd sensations up to the healing process. If anything lasts for a more than a day, then I'll worry about it.
