Help I think I am going crazy! (long)

I am 10 weeks post op. Have had some complications. I had TVH kept overies and TVT. About the 7 week mark I started to feel like a human again. But now I am an emotional wreck. I can't even stand to be around myself. One minute I am crying the next minute I feel like I just want to scream. I am NOT having any hot flashes, but I am having trouble sleeping. I just have an overall feeling of "I want out of my own skin"...it is really hard to explain. I take Paxil and Xanax due to panic attacks and depression in the past, all of which where undercontrol at the time of my surgery and had been for years. The feelings I am having now are completely different that what I felt in the past when having problems. I called the dr today and he wanted to put me on a patch for 3 months, thinking that maybe my overies are not function fully. Does this sound logical, any suggestions, how long til I feel better. Any ideals or thoughts would be greating helpful.

Andrea, I too have had trouble sleeping since my hysterectomy. And when I don't sleep, I get weepy and angry. I have also felt like I want to get away from myself. My poor husband is beside himself about what to do with me. Has your doctor even checked your hormones? My doctor told me that there was a 30% chance that my ovaries would not work after my hysterectomy. Maybe this is what has happened to you. Maybe try the patch and see what happens, it can't hurt. Good luck, Tracy

Hi Andrea,

From what I have read on Hyster Sisters, it is not uncommon for the ovaries to go to "sleep" for awhile in post-op. It can last several weeks, due to the trauma of surgery.

Maybe temporary HRT would be an answer. Or possibly your Dr. could give you a hormone panel test to see where your hormone levels are.

Best wishes,

Mary

I am over three months out, but I felt exactly as you did at about 10 weeks. I saw my doctor about it and he gave me Lunesta and some anti anxiety medication to get me through what he called a rough patch. I really felt better after a few days of the treatment, but I felt down and really out for the two weeks prior to seeking help. Maybe your dr can offer some help

Thanks for your replies. My dr called in the patches and I put one on right away. I do hope this helps becasue I just feel at the end of my rope. My dh is being so sweet to me. Atram32, its good to hear that someone else felt this way, thanks for sharing.
