Pyridium before hysterectomy

Did anyone got Pyridium prescribed to take before the surgery and if yes, what was the reason? My pharmacy told me they are not having a option to get this medication from the manufacturer, so I am not sure if there is something wrong with this medication.

According to http://www.webmd.com/drugs/2/drug-56...m-oral/details pyridium "is used to relieve symptoms caused by irritation of the urinary tract such as pain, burning, and the feeling of needing to urinate urgently or frequently."

If you're not sure why your doctor prescribed it to you, you should ask your doctor. Also call your doctor if you're unable to obtain this medication. Your doctor may be able to get it for you, or s/he may want to prescribe an alternative medication.
