Choices, what to do?
Mandy,
I had LAVH on 12/31. Also had the A&P repairs along with a bladder sling. I was on my pain meds for 4 days after released from my hospital stay. My surgery was done at 1:00 on a Monday and by 10am on Wednesday I was leaving the hosp. to go home. I went back to work on 1/28. I opted tohave the ovaries along with the tubes taken since my cervix was going too. My recovery has been great with the exception of a mild UTI. I have 4 tiny incisions on my abdomen...but hey...I am not a bikini body type...so it did not bother me. I am 43...I think age will play a factor too in what you have taken. Seek that 2nd and 3rd opinion and then make your choice. Good Luck.

Choices, what to do?
Thanks all I will check out your tips. It took me a week to find my way around in Cafe Chronique and I still loose things in there every once in a while.

my3yorkies ~ LOL thanks, I am not the bikini type either and I don't really care about the scarring. Just whatever it takes to fix it. But, I am not looking forward to the recovery. I bruise so badly that I bet that I will need two of the tummy thing that I have seen in here. With my thyroid surgery, it looked like a HUGE goiter afterwards and I had to go in every two days or so to get the surgeon to drain the excess blood. All of the swelling was the most painful part of that. ~ Mandy

Choices, what to do?
Mandy,
I bruise very easily too. With the 2 incisisions on each side of the belly...just a little yellow coloring and a tinge of yellow with the naval incision. Now the incision right above my pubic area...different story. I will not lie! It was horrible...black, blue, purple...you name it. I questioned my GYN and she said that the Urogyn did it...he had so many repairs to make that is where his part of the trauma is...there and the larger incision on the left side of my abdomen. Within a couple of days the pain was not bad and the swelling I still have a bit of but it is not painful at all. I was able to go to work at week 4 post op...went for 1/2 days and ended up staying the whole day because I had no pain. Now I have a desk job so I pretty much sit so it was not bad at all for me.....Oh...Ibuprofen works great if you can take it.

TJ ~ I guess one good thing with this the area is covered up with clothes. Sure you look puffy but others can't see the terrible bruising. With my thyroid, I tried to cover it up with scarves when I went to the doctor and then out but, they bothered it. Even people at the doctors office cringed at the sight of all of my bruising. Ibuprofen used to work really well for my and my fibro issues but, I can't take it now due to kidney problems =( I am just a medical mess
