What to do when pain relievers no longer work??

Ladies, I've got 14 days until surgery. I'm in so much pelvic pain. I believe my body has become accustomed to the pain relievers. Reg. strength naproxen and Tylenol are no longer working. My prescription strength ibuprofen aren't cutting it either. The heating pad helps. But now, it's ALL the time lower pelvic pain. I am praying for relief.

Re: What to do when pain relievers no longer work??

I had to start taking prescription pain relievers for my pain. Talk to your doctor tomorrow about your options.

Re: What to do when pain relievers no longer work??

Might be time to talk to your dr about narcotics. I have been taking hydrocodone for quite awhile. I always start with 600 mg ibuprofen and if that doesn't work I go to the hydrocodone. It is a mild narcotic compared to others. My dr has tried to move me to stronger narcotics and I refused since these work.

My prescription pain reliever is hydrocodone, too. It really does help. I'd be in the bed all day, every day until my surgery date without it. I also take 800 mg of ibuprofen three times per day.

Like I suggested earlier, call your doctor and ask for some relief.

The hydrocodone does help,I couldn't wait for my surgery to come, I was having the same pain as you, and it might help some to limit how much your up on your feet, my dr put me off work 3 weeks before my surgery due to my pain being so intense, especially at the end of my work day, I was barely able to walk, at the end of the day I felt like I was carrying a 300 lb baby, because of the pressure.I hope you feel better soon
