kinda gross - but need advice?????

for those that know about the IUD i had put in last month - i finallly stopped bleeding from it a few days ago, but now, i seem to have no control over my bladder - if i need to go to the bathroom, i "leak" a little. at my job, i can't always just jump up and run to the bathroom. this afternoon, also, i noticed an odor. i've never had that.

i'm still having pain from the fibroids. other than just stopping the bleeding (which will be great to not have that problem anymore!), it's not helping me in any other way.

how do i know if i have an infection from the IUD? would it be a normal indication? i don't understand the odor. it's kinda nasty.

would appreciate some kind of advice.

thanx.

I would call your doctor! I copy/pasted the following off of my obgyn's website:

Intrauterine Device (IUD)

When should I call my doctor?

Call if you:

Cannot find the IUD string.
Have vaginal discharge with a bad odor.
Have severe, unexpected pain in your lower abdomen, especially if it happens when you have intercourse.
Have a fever with no apparent cause.
Think you might be pregnant with the IUD still inside the uterus.
Want to have the IUD removed.

Hi,
I had an IUD several years ago. I, too, developed the "odor" and turned out I had bacterial vaginosis (sort of an icky fishy smell). I think inserting something new into our bodies creates an imbalance of "flora" and we can develop these things. Have it checked out! The doc will find out what is is quickly -- easy to fix.

I had an IUD for 10 years. I never had any of the problems you mentioned. I would call your doctor.
