prolapsed fibroid

I have been reading everything on your site I can and have felt so much better knowing there are others like me who are confused, scared and wondering what now?
I have been diagnosed with a prolapsed fibroid ( a fibroid that has slipped thru the cervix and is now located in the vagina. It is perdunculated and is not causing me any pain. However, a hysterectomy is not an option at this time and it has been suggested that a vaginal myomectomy to cut off the fibroid would do the job. Is there anyone else out there who has had this weird situation and what have you done? Thanks for listening.

prolapsed fibroid

None of mine have prolapsed...but if one did, I'd want that thing out of me! Especially if it is totally into the vagina. I'd think it would begin to loose its' blood supply and die. Wouldn't that cause bacteria or some sort of problems?

I'm sure this is not the norm, but with these perdunculated types it is possible. One of the sisters had an emergency with one last year and it required surgery. If you can have it snipped right off...that sounds wonderful to me.

prolapsed fibroid

Although I did have fibroids, mine were in the uterine wall (intramural) so I didn't have the situation of a prolapsed fibroid.

If your gyn can remove the pedunculated fibroid that is protruding into your vagina ... sounds like a good plan to me. Can this be done as an outpatient procedure? Sure hope it is fairly simple.

Keep us posted and let us know how you are doing.
