Prickly stitches?

So I will be 4weeks post op tomorrow. I had TVH with anterior and posterior repair.
I am feeling better but when I do my kegel exercises, lately it has hurt! Almost like I'm squeezing a wire brush against my insides. What is this? Are my stitches sticking out? I'm trying to be good doing all the exercises listed but lately after I really feel sore (not abdominally sore, just like the skin is irritated) Has anyone else had this?

Re: Prickly stitches?

Hi (((surfer143)))

Since you have a lot of stitches, it certainly seems likely that they could be causing a prickly feeling. Hopefully this will subside in the next couple of weeks as the stitches finish dissolving. Week six seems to be a pretty typical period of time for them to finish with this. If it continues though, I would certainly suggest calling your doctor. Hope you find relief soon!

Re: Prickly stitches?

Thanks
The last day or so the sensation has been fading. I haven't noticed passing any stitches...but hope that will be soon.
It doesn't hurt to do kegels anymore and I'm really trying to strengthen these muscles!

Re: Prickly stitches?

Just be careful with kegels if you had pain. I don't know the reasoning behind it, but my physical therapist that specializes in the pelvic floor told me that women can cause problems with doing kegels after surgery (or even just overdoing kegels anytime.) That she sees repurcussions of this in her office quite a bit.

Re: Prickly stitches?

Oh, that's good to know. I never could do kegels before surgery...they always gave me a terrible UTI. I couldn't figure out why till my dr said how far my uterus and bladder had prolapsed.
So my muscles were super stretched out and had to be repaired. I guess I was trying to be good this time.
Still, I'll be really careful not to do too many and listen to my body.
Thanks again for the tip
