My what if worries about hysterectomy

Is that I'll go thru the surgery, have everything removed, and it's not actually "female problems" causing my issues. That it's something GI related. And that's in addition to the what if I don't wake up anxiety.

My what if worries about hysterectomy

Have you had a second opinion? I hope all works out for the best. I think the last part of your what if worry is what we all face with surgery period. Just think positive, and make sure you fully trust the doctor that will be performing the surgery... Big Hugs! Praying for the best for you!!

Re: My what if worry

I have the exact same worry as you! I am meeting with the surgeon on Monday and one of my questions is going to be what happens when you are in there and say you notice something wrong with another area of the body not related to gyn area?

Re: My what if worries about hysterectomy

I worry the same things. Mostly what if I am still in pain after?

My last surgery just 5 months ago didn't help. Everything I have read and my docs opinion is it will improve my life quite a but.

I think it's normal to feel this way, especially when things haven't worked in the past.

Re: My what if worries about hysterectomy

Aaahhhh.....the "what ifs". They will get you every time if you let them. I think every women on here went thru or is going thru them. I know I did. Mine was the not waking up thing as well as breathing tube anxiety. I'ld really never had surgery before this other than the D&C, Polypectomy, Hysteroscopy they did for diagnostics the month before. Every time you have a "what if" moment, think to yourself "stop" (I had to literally say "stop" to myself some times) and then try to replace it with a positive out come thought. Better quality life, no more pain, no more bleeding, no more being miserable etc.... I know that's hard and probably seems silly, but it did get me through the weeks before my surgery. Wouldn't change a thing now - My outcome was good in the fact no cancer was found - big relief as I have a Mom and sister that had uterine cancer. No more worries.

You will get through this...the waiting and anticipation is the worst - take care!

Re: My what if worries about hysterectomy

Thanks everyone... Kej52. My problems - irregular bleeding, pain, pressure, swelling. Diagnosed with pcs, slight endo, and pcos. What makes me wonder about the GI issues is sometimes my stomach area just feels constipated - even when I'm not.
