cancelled hysterecromy but now MRI has shown adenomyomas. Need advice.

Hi ladies

I was scheduled for my op 20 the Nov. In the meantime I've had an extra app with my consultant to discuss my concerns. The discussion did not reassure me in any way and resulted in him giving me the option of waiting a few years then having a total hyst.
He suggested I have an MRI to check for adenomyosis and if it was all fine then I could wait.
The MRI has come back showing adenomyomas and endometriosis ( which I know I have)
He has said my cervix will now need to be removed too due to both conditions.
I did not expect this and I am so worried of the findings.

I am now seeking a second opinion mainly due to the lack of reassurance and guidance.

Has anyone had adenomyomas and a hysterectomy because of it? I have completed my family and am 39.

Any experience or advice is very welcome!
Thanks Lilyella

Re: cancelled hysterecromy but now MRI has shown adenomyomas. Need advice.

Adenomyosis was one of the dx I had that led to my hysterectomy - although my adenomyosis was not confirmed, just suspected through sonogram findings and symptoms. But I had enough other stuff going on to have the surgery. I will find out for sure if it was adeno when I get the surgery report from my dr. A second opinion is always a good idea, whatever your diagnosis!

I had adenomyosis and that was the reason for my hysterectomy, I am feeling better than I have in years! Good luck to you!

Re: cancelled hysterecromy but now MRI has shown adenomyomas. Need advice.

My pathology report after my hysterectomy confirmed adenomyosis along with numerous fibroids. I chose to have surgery because of the heavy bleeding/anemia and my growing uterus. I waited 8 months for my surgery date and during that time the bleeding became progressively heavier. My gynecologist said at the post-op appointment hysterectomy is a cure for adenomyosis. Each situation is unique and maybe your second opinion will open up new options. Good luck
