How to shower after TVH?

I'm due for my TVH in 5 weeks and I'm just wondering how to deal with showering. Should I just ignore the belly-to-thighs region in the hope that it will self-clean? Should I use water but no soap on my outer nether regions but make sure no water gets inside? What should I do? I'm normally a 'soap it all up and rinse inside' kinda gal, always have been, and I'm anticipating feeling a little dirty and smelly which will just drive me crazy

I just took a plain ol shower afterwards. They gave me a peri bottle to squirt at the outer nether regions. Generally, no water in the "hoo-ha" region inside for about six weeks. Best of luck to you. My TVH went really, really well, no pain, no issues, great anesthesia, etc...

I just shower as usual, but I've never been an up and in kinda cleaner either. The vaginal fluids actually do that job, that's part of their purpose. Aside from lubrication. I just soap up and rinse the outer parts as usual.

I wouldn't have thought that showering would be a problem, as long as you don't put anything 'up inside'. The main problem with showering comes where you have an abdominal incision, so you should be fine!

If in doubt, just check before you leave the hospital.

My dr told me not to get the incision wet the first few times I showered. When I left the hospital at 3 days, she said I could get it wet, just dont scrub it. She never said anything about washing down there and I normally just let the water run down there anyway. I think you would be fine, just not washing, let the water run down there. My gyn told me bathing as usual, just nothing in the vagina for 6 wks. I didn't have any problems. just my Best of luck to you.
