how long before lab studies done

I am haveing TAH on 12/27 with possibility of cancer.(growing fibroids) does anyone know if they do testing while operating & how long it takes to get lab results. I will be a nervous wreck until I find results

The Dr.'s will give the results of what they find during surgery right away but the full blown results take 7 to 10 days.

Hi, I had a tah/bso because of precancerous tumors. The dr gave preliminary results to my family right after surgery. The full report came about a week later.

I'll be praying that your results are as good as mine were - no cancer what-so-ever!

My dr said the same thing-----he will 'know' 'suspect' etc. the moment he does the surgery.......He is removing the tumour and freezing the section it was in and of course then the biospy----A definite report will come days later when the tests come back.

My knew before surgery was complete whether my fibrods were suspect or not. He also had an oncologist assit him as a precaution with the explaination that the oncologist is more used to seeing and identifying suspect groths & tissues. I knew by the time I saw him for my first post op visit 5 days later, the complete results of the biopsies.
