Surgery is booked for July 4th.....getting nervous!!!

I am having an abdominal hysterectomy due to fibroids, July 4th. I am so anxious to be pain free, period free, but so nervous for surgery. I had 3 c-sections, how does a hysto compare to that pain wise?

I never had a c-section, but my pain was so beautifully managed for the surgery. I was so, so very nervous. I was sick to my stomach and in tears before the surgery. It all went so easy! Really, I can't believe how easy everything went.

Re: Surgery is booked for July 4th.....getting nervous!!!

I had a csection and TLH and I have to say they were totally different my c section was a breeze after 3 days. This was alot longer to recover from but it wasn't the pain it was just being fatigued and tired. I have had alot done though it took 3 surgeries for me but it wasn't to bad. Are you keeping your ovaries? Just some advise is walk as much as you can and drink plenty of water the gas from the anesthesia was the worst. I took gasx and milk of magnesium for my bm so I didn't have to try to get it out. Lol. But all in all it was the best thing I did. I am still trying to get my hormones right but that will come. Don't push yourself to hard and if you want to vent or have any questions don't hesitate to post here. These women on this site was a life saver for me. They really helped me get through everything and we understand where you are coming from.

Re: Surgery is booked for July 4th.....getting nervous!!!

I've never had a C-section but I have had a myomectomy and they did a vertical incision. My hysterectomy was done with a bikini line incision. Comparing the 2 incisions, the bikini line one is far more easy for me to deal with. I can move around better. I had staples with my myomectomy, but with my hysterectomy they used glue. No staples or stitches

As far as pain goes, I think it is about the same as my myomectomy but maybe a just a little bit more on the scale. My pain medication controls it very well though. Every person has a different pain threshold.
