Hysterectomy on Monday (8/18): overdid it and very sore - took Advil - will surgery date need to be changed?

I was busy today cleaning and doing laundry. I over did it. I was so sore that I ended up taking 1 advil late Friday night 11:50pm. When I realized what I did I panic!!!! I am supposed to have surgery on Monday. Now I will have to call my doctor to see if I need to change the day of the surgery. I can't believe I did this.

Are you worried because you are sore or because you took an Advil? I doubt either thing would be a deal breaker because they do emergency surgeries all the time without having the patient perfectly prepped. Definitely talk to your doctor to put your mind at ease though.

Painkillers are a no no before surgeries, you should check your pre op papers, it's usually mentioned. I would definitively notify your doctor.

Panic doesn't help. Please call your doctor, explain exactly what happened and when, and ask what you need to do. Depending on what your doctor contemplates doing, it may or may not matter. All we can do here is guess based on our personal experiences. That doesn't help you. Make the call right away. If the doctor has to reschedule you, then there may be enough time to schedule someone else who is waiting. Or the doc may say it's ok, come on in for surgery. Either way, you will have a little more peace of mind.

I took Advil before my surgery for a headache. Mentioned it to my Dr and he said it was fine. We proceeded with surgery.
