Bladder problems 2 weeks later?

At first, I know it was normal to have bladder pain, fullness, feeling like I wasn't able to empty completely, that type of thing because I had the catheter in for so long and had a rather extensive surgery. However, I did not have any actual procedures done to my bladder, only a cystoscopy to make sure everything was okay and that no endometriosis was being sneaky. But because the pain was so bad, they did a test 4 days out to make sure I didn't have a bladder infection (I was also running a fever). I went to the doctor last Thursday for my 2 week check up and told them I was still having the problems so they did another urine test and gave me Pyridium to see if it would help the pain/pressure feeling, which it did. However, I STILL can't urinate normally! If I feel like I need to go, well okay, if I KNOW I need to go, and I go sit on the toilet, nothing happens. If I wait a few minutes I may get a few drops, then nothing. I can wait a minute or so and get a few more drops, then nothing. This goes on for anywhere from 2-7 minutes before I feel like I'm done enough to get up. And it's every single time I go to the bathroom. I still don't feel like I empty completely so I'm constantly having to go. It's almost like I'm trying to pee through a straw and someone keeps pinching it off. Sorry for the graphic visual, but that's the best way I know how to describe it. I go back to the doctor again on Tuesday so I'll definitely be having this discussion with him, but I just wondered if anyone else is having this issue? I haven't really seen any posts on it.

Hi there! Me too! I am going to the doctor tomorrow to have a pee test for infection. Feel constantly like I need to pee and have pain when peeing. I can pee though but never feel empty. Hope you get it sorted. x

Re: Bladder problems 2 weeks later?

I am having the same problem one week post op! My bladder was damaged during my DvH so I thought this was because of that. However, an awesome sister on this site suggested that I should blow thru a straw while trying to use the restroom. Not sure why it works but it does!! Just wish I remembered who to give the credit to! Doesn't hurt to try! It really helped me!!!!

Re: Bladder problems 2 weeks later?

That sounds tough. Could be swelling in the urethra or uti. I would ask them to teach you how to self catherize. It is not that hard to do but gives so so so much relief. If you feel you need to go and tinkle a few drops then you cath yourself and empty that full bladder.

I think self cathing will help you a lot.

Big hugs!!
