Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Feb 13-Feb 19,2017

If your hysterectomy was between Feb 13-Feb 19,2017 this is the place to post your progress during your hysterectomy recovery.

If you have a question about your hysterectomy recovery, please start a new thread to receive answers and support for your concerns instead of including the question in your update! There is information on how to start a new thread in this link: New Here? or you can use this link: Post a New Topic in the Post-Op forum.

Post how you are doing here when you are home and well enough to sit a few minutes at your computer.

We hope you are recovering well with plenty of rest and water and a bit of walking. Don't forget to pamper the princess!

How to use the Recovery Progress Reports thread:

  • 1. This thread is for the purpose of sharing updates on your recovery as you heal from your hysterectomy.

  • 2. Generally, ONE or TWO posts on this thread per member/per day is adequate to share your daily progress and to share encouragement with your surgery week Sisters.

  • 3. Remember to start a new thread on the Post-Op message board to ask your questions.

  • 4. The Progress Report threads now begin in our special forum for all Hysterectomy Recovery Reports and will remain there for you to always find your discussion.
  • 5. Remember all the love and support you got here as a pre-op member? Now it's YOUR turn to give back to the women in the Pre-Op Hysterectomy Support forum. Extend your hand and your hugs in replies to our pre-op ladies in waiting. This will complete our circle of women helping women!
  • 6. You can also share support and experiences with post-op members in all phases of recovery in the Post-Op Hysterectomy Support forum by replying on the new threads they create.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Feb 13-Feb 19,2017

to the other side and to your Recovery Thread. Your fears of facing surgery are all over and now you can concentrate on recovery. I am (((bkfranke))) and I will joining you during your initial recovery period. This is your place to keep us up to date on how you are, meet other sisters who are recovering along with you, and find answers to the many questions that will come.

I remember the questions I had after surgery. I was too nervous to post at first but I read my Recovery Thread every day. I soon realized no one would bite me, no question was a dumb question, this was my chance to be with others who were the same place I was AND this was the place to be encouraged.

Please, don’t be SHY – join us and let us know how you are and what your questions and concerns are. (bathroom issues, gas pains, swelly belly, insomnia ) You may not be able to ask them anywhere else but you can ask them here. We are here for you.

So sit back Princesses:
-- Get plenty of rest
-- No lifting, pushing, pulling, or bending
-- Drink lots (and pee lots)
-- Did I mention rest?
-- Walk a little each day (do not pass go; do not run, skip or dance )

Thank you so much for allowing me to join you on your journey.

Remember we are here for you. You are not alone.

I'll be first Hysterectomy yesterday, they pushed me out and gone pretty quick today. No serious complications, but they say my uterus was the size of a four square ball! I'm so sore, feel tired and weepy, and the gas pains are of course awful. I'm trying to rest, but just don't feel well.

It is so good to see you on this side dear. I am so glad your surgery is over. Try to keep ahead of your pain by taking your meds on time. Many doctors also recommend taking ibuprofen in between pain med doses to help with pain control. Moist heat is very helpful for the CO2 gas pains and gas X will help with intestinal gas. Feeling tired and weepy is very normal . . . right now the best thing you can do is rest lots and drink lots and lots. Walk around a bit every couple of hours . . . that will help with the gas pains and also with constipation.

Rest well dear . . . remember you are not alone.

Is it normal to be weepy? Just all of a sudden an emotional mess. For NO reason. I already had my tubes tied, so it's not like I'm having to come to terms with not having more children.

Hello dear. Yes, it is very normal to be weepy . . . this is a very emotional surgery. Even though you kept at least one of your ovaries, it can take a while for them to "wake up" after surgery . . . right now you are experiencing a lack of hormones. If this does not improve, don't hesitate to call your doctor. At times, doctors will prescribe a low dose of HRT or can give your suggestions. Hang in there dear . . . remember we are here for you.

Love to you dear.

Surgery finished about 530pm. Have slept quite a bit and now I'm awake at 11pm. I'm feeling crampy, but overall pretty good. I'll go home later tomorrow. Left FT was swollen, fibroid was about the size of a golf ball. Not sure about the adenomyosis yet. My DH went home to get some sleep so I'll ask him in the morning what the Dr said. Again. Memory isn't clear yet.
Thank you Hystersisters for the prayers and the ability to find answers to my questions and information galore!

I had my op about yesterday and stayed in hospital over night, now back home. Surgeon said the operation went really (kept my ovaries) and he said the fibroid was pressing on the bowel. I was really pleased to hear him say that because I've had terrible nausea for a while now and I hope that the op may have solved that too!

Not had much pain at all as yet, just discomfort when I'm walking around.

I had a lavh on 2/13... Was in operating room 4.5 hours they said... I had had two myoectomys in the past year for a inner cavity fibroid 5 cm that kept coming back 6 weeks after both surgeries. Iopted to take everything but ovaries out and hope that I don't regret it. Left hospital 2/14 with a hemoglobin of 7.2.. I'm 34 she said if I was older I would have gotten. Transfused but to just take iron when I go home. First night was rough. 2nd night home was better. I removed the on Q pump yesterday and I was so sick having to pull IG put. They said it was right under the skin which if was I supposed but 10 inches was under there. I got sick.pulling it out two incisions. Now I have burning and stinging in all of my incisions. I'm hoping today is better but she said day 3 will be the worst. I'm up showering on mg own and walking my hallways so hopefully it continues. Hope everyone gets well soon.. I keep telling myself no more periods!!!!

Just talked to the dr. Left fallopian tube and ovary were adhered to the colon. Tube was twisted and swollen. Fibroid on the same side the size of a golf ball. Suspected hernia in my c section scar but wasn't. Just a lot of scar tissue that they cleaned up. Uterus was adhered to c section scar. I was surprised by all of this BC the ultrasound didn't show it. Should get lab results about adenomyosis tomorrow or Monday. Feeling okay, breakfast is on the way and I'll walk the halls after that.
