What are night sweats from?

I am waking soaked right through. I have to get up and change my clothes in the middle of the night a couple of times. I seem to be waking on my antibiotic schedule so at least that is good.

Before surgery I was termed perimenopausal (but I also had cysts on my ovaries that caused them to fail). I got night sweats from my estrogen levels being all wrong. I was beginning to think I should sleep in a swimming pool!

Before surgery I used Remifemin (black cohosh) and that took care of my night sweats.

Now - since I had my TAH/BSO - I chose to try the estrogen patch (Climera) and haven't had one night sweat.

There are loads of herbal and prescription meds to help relieve the night sweats. I haven't checked the hormone jungle section here - but they may also have some suggestions in that part of this website.

Too much / too little

I see your surgery was on the 10th, and you kept your ovaries. It's possible that your ovaries haven't 'woken up' yet - sometimes they go into shock after surgery. I suffered a few weeks of hot flashes after my LSH, but I'm fine now. Hoping the same for you.

Welcome to the jungle!! lots of good info on the Hormone Jungle forum.. I would talk to my gyn before starting any supplement. he can test your hormone levels to see if you need estrogen. Sounds like it to me. I have gotten the best results from the Climara patch. I was going until we got it figured out..
