Pre-admission Clinic today

I've got my pre-admission clinic this morning at 9-20 got loads to ask them but main concern is, as my surgery is Thursday will I have to stay in until Monday as there's only a few doctors around over the weekend. Was rather hoping to be home on Saturday if all goes well.

I seem to be in calm mode at the moment, must be cos' I've a sink load of dishes to wash up from last nights Valentines meal plus a whole stack of crocks waiting to go in the dishwasher.

Oh, and should I tell them that I have had a reaction to anything going in via the urethra, can't forget the other month when I had a cystoscopy and was in agony for weeks.

Hi Carol,

Yes - be sure to tell them that you have had a previous bad reaction. That may save you having the same thing happen again.

I hope that another UK sister will come along soon who can answer your question about how long you will be in the hospital. I do know that it seems as if your doctors do keep you longer than they do here in the US. You might want to post that question in the European Neighborhood Forum (click here).

I wish you the very best for your surgery and recovery.

thanks, just got back now all questions answered, should be home on Sunday. Told nurse about cystoscopy she thinks it's a reaction to metal rather than latex and marked it on my notes.

I did query about vaginal hyst. as mine is for heavy painful periods and I thought that might be the better route, but I have to discuss that with the surgeon on Thursday. They also said they think my problems are due to adenomyosis, so I've just read up about that and that made sense.

best wishes and many thanks
Carol

Pre-admission Clinic today

hi Carol
I am in the UK too and was quite surprised to hear you had been told Sunday for discharge. Ive been told 4 or 5 days but I know some local ladies were allowed home 3 days post op as they were doing really well. I guess it would be worth being prepared for a longer stay.

good new you have a new date, shame they're making you wait a month, typical NHS.
My youngest DS has just made a choccie cake and I'm scraping the bowl, yummy yummy
