Something Funny

My husband and I have been married for 22 years. He is fifty years old. I am scheduled to have a hysterectomy next week with ovary removal due to fibroids and an 11cm cyst on my left ovary.

He is an intelligent educated man but has recently revealed a total ignorance of lady parts. We have a grown son and never had any more. Over the years he has worried that another one would happen late in life. When I told him that I was having a hysterectomy, he was extremely supportive.

He suggested while they were in there that they tie my tubes just in case. I explained that they were taking every thing out.

Tonight he said to me, "so you won't have a period after this."

No I explained. I wouldn't have a uterus.

"But that is just the chute part, right? The period comes from your ovaries flushing things out?"

So thanks to Google, he got an anatomy lesson.

I asked him what boys watch while girls watch the "PERIOD MOVIE" in fifth grade.

"Just some movie about how you get VD from some kind of sexual activity, but they never showed what kind."

It made me laugh. I love him.

Re: Something Funny

That is so cute! When DH found out I was having a full hysterectomy, he did his own research just to know what I would be going through. (He even FOUND this board for me - I am a lucky gal!!!!!)

He said it was a real education and he learned a lot. So have I. And it helps me be a little more tolerant of the odd questions and reactions of others who also are clueless about female anatomy.

Re: Something Funny

Thanks for the giggle!

My husband didn't like the idea because he thought they took it all and he was afraid we would never have sex again. I had to tell him they leave that part - he was very supportive after that. Men!
