Thought I was OK

I'm so thankful I found this website. The support from the other posts has helped me write down new questions to ask on my pre-op visit 10-14. But I also realize that I'm in for more than I thought. I don't really know what type of hyster surgery I'm having--scheduled for LAVH for adenosis & ovarian cysts. With 2 long ago C-sects, and lap gall bladder surgery on 4-21-03, I know the risk of adhesions, and complications may lead to a TAH. Guess my nerves are just kicking into overdrive. Thanks for not making me feel so alone right now.

Thought I was OK

Hey there and welcome!!!! I have been glued to this site ever since I found it just after being told a TAH was the answer to my never ending pain. Like you I found that I am in for a bit more than I had originally thought...but with the help of everyone here I have come to the realization that A) I am sooo luck that what I have to deal with isn't more serious and B) No matter what happens I can and will survive and will have a better and much more enjoyable life after my recovery!

Here you can ask ALL the questions that may seem embarrassing or ridiculous as they rumble around in your head...but trust me...nothing is embarrassing here and there are no stupid questions! Ask away and someone will come to your rescue!

Huggage!

Thought I was OK

I know how nerves can be!!! You will be okay. I am having a LAVH on 10/15 and when I first came here, I thought it was surgery one day, fine the next. I have felt a little overwhelmed at the prospect of it too, but I think we all have.

I had lap gallbladder surgery a few years ago too. I am worried about adhesions and scar tissue as well, but I know that my dr told me he would take as much out as he could during surgery. That helped me feel better and then I found out here that if we take our time recovering after becoming a "punctured princess" we have less of a chance of forming adhesions and scartissue. That was info I didn't have before.

Keep reading and learning and ASK ASK ASK questions.

Post your worries and questions and someone will be able to respond that can share that with you. Take care,

Thought I was OK

Hi ladies,

I had an LAVH-BSO in July and am much the better for it. Honestly, the waiting is the hardest part. Most of the time they can do the LAVH without a problem.

The surgery isn't my idea of a good time - and there is some pain and discomfort afterwards but it doesn't stick around all that long. In a few weeks, you'll be surprised at how good you feel.

Now, that' doesn't mean not to be a good Rest, lots of fluids and walking as you feel up to it and not much else for 6 weeks is important. If you have any complications, could be a little longer.

Even if you feel like going to Wal-mart for hours or cleaning your house or moving the sofa, DON'T DO IT!! You can cause yourself problems and just make the healing take that much longer.

So glad you all found us -- come back often. We're all here for you.
