Surgery in two weeks (endometrial hyperplasia)

Hello Everyone,
I am scheduled to have my surgery on September 28th. It is a relief as the past few months have not been easy. In mid-August, I went in for a biopsy after dealing with non-stop bleeding for several weeks. Prior to that it was spotty bleeding to heavy bleeding with some time in between each episode. This caused me to have severe anemia, which I'm now working on getting back up to where it needs to be for surgery.

I was diagnosed with endometrial hyperplasia. I was on progesteron for the last few weeks, which seemed to help with the bleeding for a couple of week. Then this past week, the bleed started again. After my doctor explored all my options and it was determined that my ovaries are in excellent health, we decided that a hysterectomy was the best path to take.

Basically, what it came down for me, was I did not want to go through the nightmare I've gone through the past few months. I had a lupron shot yesterday in order to temporarily make my body think it is going through menopause and eventually stop the bleeding.

My mom had a hysterectomy with the removal of one ovary in her earlies 40. She has also helped me tremendously in talking to me about her own experience.

I have to say that I cannot wait for this hysterectomy so that I can get my life back. I used to have so much energy and because of the anemia, I've hardly had any energy which does not help in the profession that I'm in!

Exactly 24 hours after having the Lupron shot, I'm experiencing very intense cramping. It's not being alleviated much by the Advil, but it's my understanding that this should go away within the next few days. I hope so!

I love my doctor as she has been so incredibly supportive, gentle and caring. She has answered all of my questions. I really could not have asked for a better ob-gyn.

Re: Surgery in two weeks

It is great that you have your mom to help you and relay her experiences to you. That must really help.

I hope the Lupron works for you soon.
