LSH 11/29/10 - Bending

I just read that I wasn't supposed to be doing ANY bending yet. I am on day 10.

In the last few days, I have bent at the waist to pick up socks, food that was dropped and something else.

Now I am terrified. Does this mean I need to be checked? I don't FEEL anything different. Also, if you can't bend, how do you put your sweats on, or your socks? I am alone three nights a week.

Thoughts? Ideas?? Am I being paranoid??

Also - isn't the "L" position of sitting the same? Should I not be sitting? What about squatting? Would that be better?

Leia, ask your doctor. I asked mine right after surgery and he said that bending was not a problem. I only had limits for activity and lifting. I bent over on the first day and it was no problem. Just be careful though as you are doing it. If it hurts, stop.

Thank you, Danni. My doctor was very adamant about lifting. Also took a lot of care to show me how to sneeze, cough and get in/out of bed. I really didn't recall any stress on bending. My next appt is the 20th. I will be more careful, and will also not stress that I have been drying my own lower legs after showers. Maybe let them air dry for now "just in case" because I don't want to ruin internal stitches or get a hernia.....but I do feel some assurance for now. Again, thank you.
