Complex Ovarian Cysts 7 months after hysterectomy

Two weeks ago I began having my normal ovulation pain. I kept my ovaries and cervix after a davinci hysterectomy in August of 2010. So I still get ovulation pain every 25 to 28 days. A week after that pain, I was floored for a day with horrible pain in my bowels and bladder. I was shaking and felt like throwing up. I just lay down and my husband did some light abdominal massage to relieve the pain.

Three days later an ultrasound showed that a cyst on my ovary had burst and left some fluid and blood in the cul de sac area. I also have three more cysts about 2 cm each. I have pain in my low back and it radiates to my thighs also. Laying down and heat helps. The pain was WORSE than any pain I ever felt from surgery... in fact I never had pain pills after my davinci.

It hurts to poop and I was peeing every 15 minutes only minute amounts. This has improved since, but I still have the pain in general. The Dr. Said they are complex cysts and might be endometriomas.... I was filled with endometrial adhesions and a uterus full of fibroids ( as big as a 5 month pregnancy). Because of my history with endometriosis my Dr. had recommended removal of ovaries and cervix, but I opted to keep both at 45 years old to preserve my sexual health and my pelvic floor.... but I wonder if it was a bad idea.

I felt really amazingly great just four days after the davinci and now I am disappointed... this is pain like the fibroids all over again and maybe a worse. I had a few cysts on my ovaries back in 1993 and it was a constant pain for three months. I am wondering if any body else experienced this in the population of people who kept their ovaries and if they ended up having surgery.

what are they going to do now, has the doctor said? Are they going to go in and remove the ovary? Will you still want to keep the other ovary?

I had kept my ovaries but had to have them removed 4 years later due to constant pain and cysts. The pain was incredible. I was told post-op that I was PCOS but honestly that's the first time I had ever heard that.

The good news is that I'm now pain free and have my quality of life back. Really I think that's what it boils down to - your quality of life.

Out and I have an ovarian cyst 3 cm that is causing a lot of discomfort. My doc told me that next appt that he will see what needs to be done so I feel your pain and agree about quality of life but for me I'm a little worried about surgery yet again so early in all of this. Good luck sister :-)

I kept my ovaries and am almost 6 wkd post lavh. Last week due to increased pain, I went to my gyny, went for a scan and have a cyst on my right ovary. Also suspected an infection so gave me an antibiotic. Within 48 hours, symptoms displeased. Finished antibiotics two days ago, yesterday symptoms back. Ag I wish things would return to normal. Going to see gyny next week for 6 week check. Hope she has plan as I don't want this odd pain all the time.
