1 year later - bad acne

Hi Ladies! I'm 16 months post op and feeling terrific! Soooo happy I got rid of my bad sac! But.....I've been having really bad acne for the last 6 months. Deep, painful to touch blemishes along my chin and jaw line only. Anyone else experience this after surgery? I had normal acne as a teenager and a pimple once and awhile as an adult but nothing like this. Very strange. I should add, I'm only 44, kept both my ovaries and are not having any other menopause symptoms. Just thought I'd check here before I lose my mind!!!

Thanks and take care ladies!!!

Oh I do feel for you. Im almost 42 and have been battling acne & melasma my whole life.

Its hormones.

I have chosen to do another round of Accutane. I had done a round of it years ago and it was a miracle for me.

I started the Accutane right around the time of my TAH.

I have found nothing else to truly clear the cystic type acne you are describing. I have done everything--topicals, lasers, diet, you name it.

The only other pill that did help and is less drastic than Accutane is Spironolactone. That did help for a while as well.

Its so frustrating dealing with acne, I know. I hope you find something that works for you, its difficult to cure when its hormone based...

Re: 1 year later - bad acne

I am having acne too. Especially on my back and face. I will be 40 in September. Why do we have to go through another puberty? Ugh! I know jawline acne is hormone related. But why my back? I will not be wearing a swimsuit anytime soon. :-( its so embarrassing.
