Information about your doctor

Does anyone have any good ways to check out the doctor who is doing your surgery? I want some assurance he is a top-notch surgeon. I found out through the AMA website where he went to med school and the date he graduated, but don't know where else to look. I've only been going to him a short time and have faith he's a good doctor. There must be sources of informtion to determine the number of successful surgeries he has performed. Any suggestions?

Thanks for all the advice and good wishes!

Information about your doctor

I had also been going to my doctor for a short time before my TAH/BSO. I got a lot of reassurance from hospital personnel. A friend of mine is a nurse at the hospital where I had my surgery and she assured me that my doctors hyster patients did really well and if she needed to have one she wouldn't hesitate to have him operate on her. Also, the tech that drew blood for my pre-op had a hysterectomy with my doctor and only had great things to say about him .
Good luck and take care!

Information about your doctor

Dear Sister,

I found out about my doc through my gyn because I needed a specialist to do my surgery he was a gyn. oncologist because my endo was so severe. I have nurse in my family who new him from the past and I have a friend that us to be the manager of a University blood bank and she knew he was a "clean doc" didn't require blood often for surgery. I also asked the doc. questions about his experience. I had DH with my and he asked questions too. I took in a list. You can get a copy off of one of the pull down menus. Very Helpful.

I suggest you also reqeust info about your ansthesiologist. Mine did not do a good job and as it turned out they ended up taking that part off my bill. So investigate. Ask what kind of ansthesia you will have. Good luck you are on the right track. Be informed
