help looking for anyone info that might help traveling after surgery

HELP............my surgery is Aug 2 and have to go from Michigan to Cal on Aug 27 for business I cannot get out of..anyone traveled that soon and done well......I also worry after reading the posts that my clothes will not fit me due to that swelling belly thing..I have lost about 10 lbs so far just in worry over the past week and a half...please give any input that might be helpful..thanks hugs annie

What type of surgery are you having?

My SIL traveled within the first week after her TVH due to a death in the family. I had a TAH and would not have been ready to travel in less than 3 weeks.

As for clothes, I'd try to wear dresses or skirts.

There's really no way to get out this?

Well, at 3 weeks post-op (which is about what you'll be), you won't want to do any lifting or straining. You'll need someone to care for your luggage the whole time during the trip. (Even one instance of, "Oh, I'm just lifting it into the car" can send you right back to the hospital with internal injuries ) You'll be waiting in airports, standing in line, and crowded into the plane.

I feel for you, and I would volunteer to go on this trip for you if I could. Take care of yourself.

Thanks so much friend..they moved me date to next thirsday so I will have four weeks wish I did not have to go but no way of getting out of it....hubby being in a chair we board first and get off last....he ordered help at the airport for the bags...I am still scared to death.......thanks for the note xoxo annie
