Sent home with an ice pack any one else

My doctor sent me home with an ice pack to lay on my tummy across the staples , but failed to tell me how long to use this ........any one else sent home with this and how long did you use it ?

I always understood that ice or heat was 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off.

IF you are talking about how long to leave it on your incision, about 20 min. If you are talking how long you can apply it, (like how many days or weeks) you can use it as long as you feel comfortable, I guess

I'd be careful with the ice on the staples for too long or heat, for that matter. You don't want them getting too hot or too cold...it's not like you can yank them out if they start to freeze or get too hot, you know? Maybe put a towel between you and the cold pack?
