need answers

I am having a TAH on May 25. The fibroids and cysts I have are not causing bleeding. Is there a reason for this? Three years ago I was diagnosed with fobroids with heavy bleeding and a small cytst on my ovaries. They removed the cysts and gave me high blood pressure medicine for the fobroids. I have alot of discomfort and problems with leaking urine. Is all of this normal? There are many more fobroids and cysts this time so my dr said to remove any breeding ground and this will make my life easier. This web site is wonderful.

Heavy bleeding was never a problem for me. The last few months before surgery I did get heavier periods and more cramping, but for me it was tremendous pain from large, actively growing fibroids, pressure on bowels, and major pressure on bladder (constant leakage). The doctor did not take my ovaries, even though they are cystic (the left one especially), because they are working well and only cause me minor discomfort. The TAH took away all my major pain and my bladder problem went away COMPLETELY. The doctor said my uterus was just one big mass of fibroids, inside and out, and was more than 8 times normal size. No wonder I felt pregnant. Good luck.
