bleeding after TVH

Just wondering what I should expect the bleeding to be like after my TVH. I want to take my own pads to the castle, and want to know what size to take. I don't want to have to sit on a "mattress" if I don't have to. LOL

bleeding after TVH

Hi cant wait,, there is moderate bleeding at first, the castle supplied me with pads and sent some home as well, they were alittle big and bulky to me, so I am sure a thin maxi will be fine to take with you.

Thanks cindy gragg
I just hate the ones the castle supplies. Talk about uncomfortable. I think I will take some thinner ones with me. Did you have a TVH? Is "packing" the vagina the norm for these? And if so, how bad is it?

(((cant wait))), everyone's experience is different. Some ladies don't have a lot of bleeding, some others (I was one) have tons, and need the huge hospital pads. Some ladies can slap on a pad and go; others (I was one) don't feel like sitting on anything for quite a while afterwards. Some have packing; others (I was one) don't. You need to ask your DR whether or not you'll have packing (and realize that the answer may change when you wake up, since unexpected things can happen during surgery) and wait and see how much bleeding you end up having.

My on the pads... in the hospital, I was bleeding a lot. If I'd brought my own panties and regular sized pads, I would have taken home a huge laundry problem. I used the hospital's pads and belt the first day, switching to those stretchy hospital panties the second... and didn't regret it one bit. In fact, I ended up taking several pairs of those panties home with me to wear the first week - that way, if I overflowed the pad during the night, I didn't have to wash my panties.

Good luck with your surgery!

bleeding after TVH

I had slight bleeding right from the start. I used hospital pads and was glad of not using up my own panties- more for DH to wash later! Their stretching panties were comfy!!! I didn't have any vaginal padding at all thank goodness even though the surgeon said it was likely. I then bleed slightly for a full 6-7 weeks, although it got much less to a yellowly clear discharge towards the end. I wasn't really prepared for this and DD kept going out for more panty liners but that was all it needed after the first few days.

I gather from on here that everyone is different.

Good luck!

As surferbabe said, everyone is different. Here is my experience. I did have packing till the next morning. When they took it out I had moderate bleeding for the first few hours, used the hospital pad. When I was released to go home mid morning, I used my own thin maxi. By day two all I needed was a panty liner. The discharge for me only lasted about 2 1/2 weeks. Remember, your doctor is there to answer any questions you have. Hope you have an uneventful recovery. Best of luck.
