Ouch!

I kept wondering why someone would have used the name "Maggot" but just kept reading, until I got to the part where it was "Margot" and a typo. I haven't laughed so much in a long time! I had trouble telling my husband the story because I was giggling so much tears were coming out. He said he's never heard me laugh so hard. Having pain in my right ovary (I'm assuming) it wasn't good to laugh so hard! Maybe it's because of the low fever I have today. My surgery is coming up July 19th and I've been a bit stressed and reading as much as I can so I know what to expect.

Anyway, it just reminded me of my family's unexpected comedies while we were going through terrible times when my mother was dying from ovarian cancer.

anyone had a misdiagnosed cyst?

Hi Kelly!

It was fun for me to see that post again. It was so long ago! Where did you dig it up? Anyway, I'm glad it gave you a good laugh. Good luck with your surgery, and I wish you many more unexpected laughs.
Love, Margot (AKA: Maggot)

anyone had a misdiagnosed cyst?

I just had a LVH for what we thought was a pretty big ovarian cyst. I have had many of these, as well as endometriosis, torsioned left ovary, tube, etc. So I agreed to the procedure. After the doc went in, he found that the real problem was that the endometriosis had made its own large cyst, and was all over my pelvis, including the uterus, ovary, bowels, intestines. It looked like a scary ovarian cyst on the ultrasound, but that wasn't it. He said it literally looked like cellophane paper in there. They can't always tell what they're seeing on the ultrasound!

anyone had a misdiagnosed cyst?

Hi Margot!

I guess I didn't realize just how old that post actually was! I decided to sneak over to the post-op side to see what info I could find, and anything about cysts--since I think my right cyst is my main problem at the moment. Everything I've been reading is so serious, so it was really unexpected to get such a laugh. My husband still thinks I'm crazy for trying to get my hands on all this information before surgery.

Dueldiva: Wow, what good timing for me with this post! I've also been wondering about what all the ultrasounds can see, since that's all I've had (well...other than colonoscopy, EKG and treadmill).

I guess I'll find out soon enough!

anyone had a misdiagnosed cyst?

I had a weekend emergency appendectomy that turned out to be a ruptured ovarian cyst! All the symptoms were classic to appendicitis and when the surgeon went in the appendix was fine. He removed it anyway so if this happened again I'd know it was not appendicitis. Seven years later I had a hyst due to large fibroids; I do not know if these incidents were related.

anyone had a misdiagnosed cyst?

Hi Margie
I was doing a quick check in and saw that this post got a recent look in! Gosh, was so funny calling you Maggot - sounds like we brought some humour into things again!

I read that things are still not right with you - I am sorry to hear that, sometimes it seems like we are on a never ending treadmill of Doctors and tests and we just cant jump off!

I seem to be doing well as regards the hysterectomy issues but not having much fun balancing the thryoid and HRT stuff. Then a few weeks ago I went for my 2 yearly mammogram and they asked why I had the hysterectomy. I told them about the cystadenoma and the Breast Dr's first response was "Why arent you seeing the surgeon for regular checkups" and second "Why did they put you on HRT with that history".

So i will be going back to my GP with a few questions! I hope a havent just slipped through the cracks because my surgeon was an endometriosis specialist (which is what they thought I had) rather than an oncologist (which was where the path tests ended up!) :sigh:

Good to see you all again anyway!
