Two years post hysterectomy: Incision around belly button still bleeds

I'm now 2 years in recovery from a Cancer operation that took all my female parts out. Due to a large tumor and cancer, they had to cut my lower abdomen 7 inches up to and including my belly button. My incision around my belly button has healed, yet it still scabs. When I scratch the scabs I bleed again. Is this common ??

Re: Incision around belly button still bleeds

I had the same cut and the section above the belly button opened up and then stabbed over. Once the scab came off, it didn't bleed again. I would find put why it will not heel as once the scab comes off, it should be heeled and it should just be red. Maybe you are not leaving the scab on long enough to heel underneath??

Hi Ive had this problem after 2 lots of my surgery but my tum button was pulled in so deep I couldnt see what was happening with it took ages to heal and the seemedto go sore and dry and then would bleed again>I found that old fashioned Germolene antiseptic cream healed it for me , I just think it gives the wound alittle more elasticity and so makes the skin a bit more supple and it heals better without scabbing over very dry ,hope this is helpful xxx
