Vaginal bleeding after TAH?

Hi all,

My TAH (keeping ovaries) is on Thursday, and I'm madly trying to get my ducks in a row to prepare. Let's just say it's all a challenge. One issue I'm confused about is vaginal bleeding post-op --

How long does one typically have vaginal bleeding?
How heavy should I expect, eg. like a period or just some spotting?
I assume I'll need pads, right? (I know - dumb question!)

I didn't have any bleeding for the first week or so. The first spotting started right around the time of my first bm and scared me. I thought I'd ripped some sutures but it was light and stopped a couple days later. I had it like that off and on for the full 6 wks of recovery. I never needed anything more than a light days pantyliner though.

I never bled after surgery. I had some light brown discharge for a few weeks and that was it. I needed a very light pad during that time.

I never bled or had any type of discharge. I have not worn a pad since about a week before surgery April 3, 2009!!! WOO HOO!!!!!

It is just different for everyone.
