Scared is normal...

Hi, helina!
It is normal to feel scared and I read everything I could on here before my hys.. We are all scared to have it done as none of us has had a hysterectomy before (hee hee)
I, too had a prior laparascopic surgery, my left ovary was removed 11 years ago and that one was outpatient so I was scared, I never been in a hospital before. I was in so much pain before mine it 'overode' the fears I had and I wanted it done.
I browsed through this site, pre-op and post-op so I knew what to expect and I found alot of the questions I had someone asked and had been answered already so read alot on here, I learned so much.
You will find other ladies who had the surgery same way you will (abdominally or vaginally, ovaries stay or not, things like that) and it depends on our age, general health pre-op, reason for the surgery in the first place, things like that.
Good luck on Dec. 7th and please keep posting, all of the ladies here understand...
And when I would get scared about mine, I thought about life w/no more disabling periods..Wooo Hoooo!!!
The recovery for mine has been slower than I would like but alot of ladies say that here, I am only 18 days post-op myself and each day it DOES get a tiny bit better but I wish it wasn't so slow, I guess would be thing I thought would be faster but boy I was in for an awakening. When they say rest, do it.
hang in there...
BTW, I have endo, too. I think it is from h***. Sorry you have it, too but neither of us is alone with it....

Hi

Welcome to HysterSisters! There is tons of information, advice, support, and s when you need them.

A lot of members may think the PreOp forum is all there is, but this site offers so much more! You can find answers to almost any question you have, just by spending some time reading.

Check out the PreOp Hints and Articles (click here) which has lists of questions for your DR, previous discussions about topics such as whether to keep the ovaries and/or cervix, suggestions of things to take to the hospital with you, and lots more!

Also the PostOp Articles (click here) has lots of good advice about your recovery.

Princess Stories (click here) are just that - chronicles of the journey leading to the decision to have a hyst, the hospital experience, and recovery.

There is also an awesome resource link directory you can get to by clicking here or click Resources at the top of each page. You can find almost anything relating to hysterectomies, surgery, hormones, diagnoses, books, the list goes on and on. Check it out!

There is a place for "other" posts also. Things that aren't exactly questions or concerns about your upcoming surgery and recovery. That forum is called Friends Without Faces Non-hysterectomy discussions are located here. If its not about hysterectomy surgery, talk about it here. Subforums include: Parenting, Pets, Decorating, Crafts, Reviews and more! Holiday Greetings also go there. It's another way to keep busy while waiting for surgery, and while you're recovering.

Please be sure to read the info New Here? which can also be accessed from the top of every screen, for important information to help you get the most out of this site.

Read and research as much as possible to help you, in conjunction with your DR, make the best decisions for you.

Best wishes!
