Too much activity at 10 weeks post-op from TAH?
This is my tenth week since I had a TAH. I went back to work on the 6th week. I felt pretty good then and rested. But this past I have more tenderness around my incision and some minor pains in my stomach. But the tenderness is always there. I am a dental assistant and do alot of running around, but mostly sitting. Think I have did more than I should have? My knees and hips and joints in general ache( I am 55) but I did not ache like this till after my surgery. Any comments?

Too much activity at 10 weeks post-op from TAH?
Hi nifty fifty!
I had a TAH at the age of 50. After a day of physical activity, I experienced the same symptoms you describe. This periodic achiness and soreness continued for many, many months after my surgery. My advice to you is to "listen to your body" and be sure to rest and take it easy when you get home from work. You're still relatively early post-op and need to remember to
Many s and Best Wishes,

In all actuality, you are still healing. You body may just be letting you know you are doing too much, and it isn't quite ready for you to be going full steam yet. Try to watch to see if you are actually using your ab muscles more than you think you are--even sitting up you use those muscles. Try to get as much rest as possible when you can. And you can be achy from holding yourself differently, trying to protect your incision.
But, I also want to note that some women have body aches from hormone imbalance, so you may need to call your dr and have your hormone levels checked.
Any time you feel you have health concerns, please feel free to call your dr. Best wishes to you!

Just adding a thought... as a dental assistant, you are doing a lot of stretching, twisting, etc. as you assist, moves that are so natural you don't even think about them. These movements can be putting strain on your abs and incision, so rest and pampering are essential.....

Too much activity at 10 weeks post-op from TAH?
Hi there Niftyfifty,
I am ten weeks post TAH tommorrow and I still have stabbing pains and twinges in lower abdomen and around the scar at times. I am not back at work yet, here in the UK we get 12 weeks, I also have to get a job first as I gave up the last one due to the bleeding probs! I am not even doing much housework yet, just the basic stuff, my daughter is still doing the hoovering for me.I find as soon as I start doing too much the aches and pains appear again. Tried swimming at the weekend and after a while it started pulling around the scar. I think this is all pretty normal for this op, it is major surgery and we all expect too much of ourselves . I had a C-Section previously and got twinges from that for a long time and this is meant to be worse. On the whole I still feel much better than before, no more being confined to the house with bleeding and pain . Take it easy and leave the chores and get some rest.
Hope you feel better soon
