Anyone have shoulder pain after hyst?

ok, I had a cone and tubes done in 2004, and after this procedure I had the most awful pain in my shoulder, just unbearable! So my question to you ladys is did any of you have this awful pain after the hyst? I guess it had something to do with the gases getting caught in your tummy???

I think the gases react on you differently each procedure. I didn't feel anything after two surgeries. Hopefully, this time won't be as painful for you!

Whenever a lap procedure is done the Dr's use CO2 to inflate the abdomen in order to give them more room to work. The CO2 then rises into the neck and shoulder thus causing the pain.

ok, that makes sence, so since I am having an TAH, I shouldnt have to have the C02 right?

No, you shouldn't have the CO2, but they will be touching your bowels, so they will get sluggish. Be prepared with gas-x and stool softeners.

I had laproscopic galbladder removal and the gas inside me made me woozy everytime I would stand up. The "bubble" would move up to my shoulder near my neck and I would get very dizzy. I didn't really find this out until I was sure I was going to be fine so I sent the Mr. and kids out of town for the weekend. Moral of the story: Don't be macho!
