Bright Red Blood....this can't be right.

Hi, all....

Okay before y'all yell at me, I've been to the clinic and to the ER....most recently I just got home from the ER at about 5:30 this morning.

I woke up at 2:00 am. and had to pee. So did, when I stood up bright red blood was coming out of me. I wasn't sure from where. I laid down waiting for it to stop, it didn't. So off to the ER we went. Luckily they weren't busy and they called down the OB/GYN on call. She checked me out and determined where the blood WASN'T coming from. It wasn't coming from the vaginal cuff. She seemed to think it was coming from the wound itself. She didn't really clean anything off and was more concerned with the vaginal cuff then anything else. I asked her point blank, how long should I let this bleeding go before I get really worried? She just shook her head and said, "I know, I know....it's hard to know." Ummmmm........HELLO.............YOU: a millionn years in school to know this vs. ME: a project coordinator with a high school education. i know you are only 12 years old.....but give me an answer ****it!!!!

Anyhow.....so after a wasted very early morning in the ER I came home and passed out in bed. Of course, wokeup at 8:45 in the morning to pee again. Again blood...bright red...pouring out. Based on the position of my pad....I swear it's coming from the rectum. But I just don't know.

NOW....I'm wondering if I did the right thing. I'm ver nervous and I feel that I have exhausted all avenues. I just don't see in what medical world continues bright red blood coming from anywhere can be considered "normal".

So, I guess, I'll just wait until I pass out from blood loss and see if they can figure it out then. Ugh!

Denise our dear friend what are we going to do with you??

Your doctor will be back tomorrow right? Can you call the clinic or Dr. you saw yesterday instead? Are you soaking through pads...how much? If it keeps up don't hesitate to go back again. Bright red blood is never good. My understanding is that it if it pools up like it can in the vaginal canal it will make big clots but with you having open wounds it might not produce the big clots so be careful and monitor the pads.

I wish they could just fix you up!

My doc won't be back 'til next Tuesday. The docs I saw yesterday will be informed by the doc I saw in the ER. Plus, I just sent them an email. According to the doc lastnight, it's NOT coming from the vaginal cuff. I'm worried about the two other holes I have down there. LOL

This is insane. I'm really nervous.

So I asume the ER doc didn't really check the rectal area to see if it was bleeding. Sorry TMI but if the doc didn't get in there it might not be just clearly visible from the outside if your lying down on your BACK....Geez I am not even a doctor.

OT: My pre-op my hubby commented on all my research I was doing, watching EVERY OR-Live suregery and all the posts I was reading to the doctor by saying that if I learn ANY more I can do this surgery myself!

If bright red blood is pouring out, you need to go back to the ER. Insist that they find out where the blood is coming from. It could be that whatever it is got worse from the earlier ER visit. If you feel this is serious, you need to go back.

Nope....she looked at it. But didn't do an internal or anything. Plus the CBC was a joke. The put the iv catheter in. The drew blood from it but it clotted before it got to the lab so they called down for another. Tuns out I laid their with that **** thin my my arm in the wrong place. Another personn came in to get new blood. They could draw any from the iv site. No iv was ever hooked up anyway. So I told her to draw from the other arm. She walked to the other side, picked up my arm, then the doc came in again to say I could basically go home. So the person put my arm down and left. No CBC was ever drawn. So God only nows what my count is right not.

Now. I'm getting a headache and my legs hurt. I'm so beyond fed up with this, I can't even explain it.

Go back to the ER and demand they figure this out. When they didn't take the blood for the CBC and told you to go home you should have said something right then and there - its not RIGHT. You don't seem to be a shy persion here - don't be shy with the doctors either. After all , they too are only human.

i would think when you were examined and the dr said the blood wasnt coming from your vaginal cuff, that she would have known if it was rectal bleeding. about a month after my surgery i had unexplained heavy bleeding and clotting. the dr examined me and said he felt it was left over from the surgery and to call him if it increased or continued for more than a few days. he felt it would never happen again and he was right. i dont have a vaginal cuff, so i assume it was blood left in my cervix.
you really shouldnt have left the hospital without your cbc being done. if i were you, i'd go back to the hospital and not leave until you have answers.

Doesn't your regular Dr have an associate or another private physician who is taking his/her patients while away? Having just had an er/hospital experience with my mother over the weekend, I can just see what went on with your visit. I would try and see a private physician. Mariah

Has the bleeding slowed? I would call your docs office and ask who is on call to fill in for your doc while he is out. Surely he has someone on call for him...

I would not go back to that ER. Sounds like they don't know much. If you can't see an associate of your doc, find a different ER or go to a women's hospital ER.
